More Christmas cheer at King's Lynn Minster
To accompany traditional Christmas services, the team at King's Lynn Minster in Saturday Market Place have put together some activities for local and visiting families to enjoy.
Working together with local schools, communities, and businesses, they hope to make this special time of the year as enjoyable as possible.
Christmas is a time for singing and rejoicing and on Saturday,(December 19) at 4pm volunteers from St. John’s Church and the Minster will spread the Christmas spirit by singing carols on doorsteps.
Following current Covid-19 guidelines, the volunteers will try and visit as many homes as possible on a planned route, focusing on those who are self-isolating or shielding during this Christmas period.
The Minster Choir have been practising for the upcoming Christmas Carol Service, as well as recording some of the beloved carols for a special Christmas CD.
Alongside “Silent Night” and more from the Minster Choir, pupils from St Edmund’s Academy have sung and recorded Away in a Manger.
The CDs have been sent out to the members of the congregation to enjoy at home.
If you would like to request a CD (for a small donation), please get in touch with the Minster Office and arrange to collect a copy.
When passing the Minster, come and see the Jesse Tree outside the West Door of the church.
The Jesse Tree is used to tellstories from the Bible and has been decorated with images representing each of the stories and Bible references to help you find them. Next to it is our prayer tree.
All prayer requests are welcome and if you are unable to come, you can contact the Minster Office to place a prayer request for you.
The trees will be joined by Nativity figures prepared by Springwood High School.
The Saturday Market Place is a great spot for a stroll now that it has been beautifully decorated for Christmas.
If you look closely at the windows of businesses near the Minster, you will discover a Nativity Trail.
There are seven posters displayed around the Minster and Saturday Market Place, showing characters from the Nativity Story with fun activities for you to complete. Can you find them all?
Please keep in mind that the usual Christmas Services at the Minster will go ahead this year, at 8.30am and 10am on Christmas Day. For Christingle and Midnight Mass services, you will need to book tickets.
