The Post Office Scandal musical based on interviews with victims coming to Wereham Village Hall tonight
A musical based on interviews with victims of the Post Office scandal will be coming to the stage tonight.
Shouldham Entertainment Committee presents their latest live show, a major new production on tour from Pentabus and New Perspectives Theatre Companies - Make Good: The Post Office Scandal for tonight only at Wereham Village Hall at 7.30pm.
Once again presented in collaboration with Creative Arts East, the show will unusually be presented in Wereham Village Hall to better accommodate the scale of the production which follows the story of this ongoing national scandal in this wonderful new musical on the first leg of its national tour.
The synopsis of the musical is as follows: “Over 20 years, a silent tragedy has unfolded in the heart of our communities.
“Innocent sub-postmasters had their lives torn apart and faced bankruptcy, isolation, and jail for crimes that were never committed and for debts that never existed.
“Directly informed by conversations with affected sub-postmasters, Make Good dives into this most local of stories, capturing the raw emotions, the bewilderment, and the unbreakable bond of faith and family that was put to the test.
“Make Good which has been in the making for three years tells the story of the Post Office scandal, now recognised as one of the gravest miscarriages of justice in British history.”
A cast of four, directed by Pentabus Theatre’s artistic director Elle While, will be supported by a community choir to bring this story to vivid and emotional life.
This is an opportunity to see an important new musical in a village setting, and it will once again be supported by a full bar provided by The Wenns of Lynn.
Tickets for the show are £10 each and those who are under 25 can watch for free.
