National Trust Festival of Archaeology at Oxburgh Hall starts this weekend

The National Trust's Festival of Archaeology starts this weekend at Oxburgh Hall.

From today until July 31, National Trust places up and down the country will be taking part in the festival, which was created to encourage everyone to discover the archaeology and heritage that’s all around them.

There will be a display of the secrets found underneath the floorboards during lockdown and a guided tour of Oxburgh’s prehistoric landscape.

Walks and talks with archaeologists reveal how thousands of years of history have been woven into the countryside, live surveys and excavations reveal secrets from the past and exhibitions will showcase finds from recent digs and searches.

Family activities include living history events with the chance to meet costumed characters from Anglo-Saxon and Roman times, historic arts and crafts, including pottery and mosaic making, sandpit digs and the opportunity to handle replica artefacts.
