Discover Downham in Downham Market holding its first pop-up exhibition by group of artists – with chances to buy pieces of art

An old fire station is hosting an art exhibition for the first time ever.

Discover Downham is always keen to welcome new uses for the centre and already hosts talks, meetings, coffee mornings, and workshops as well as a wide variety of group hires.

However, this event is something that has not been held at the old fire station venue before.

This art group was set up 14 years ago and the friends have been meeting regularly ever since.

The group all work with different art forms, media and on a wide range of subjects so there will be plenty of variety on display.

The group is mostly women, with one male friend John. John took up art after suffering a stroke which meant he lost most of the feeling on his right side.

He has since had to learn to use his left hand and won a Life After Stroke Award which shows what can be achieved.

They have decided that now is the time to put on their own art exhibition to display their work, show their talents, and share their enthusiasm.

The exhibition, which is free to enter, will be held on Friday, October 18 from 10am-4pm and Saturday, 19 from 10am-1pm.

There will be a large number of framed and also some mounted artwork for sale with prices ranging from £20 to £50.

Teas, coffee and homemade cakes will be available and everyone is very welcome to go along to Discover Downham, meet some of the artists and enjoy the exhibition.
