Ingoldisthorpe Sports and Social Club open-mic night is proving a hit with new talent and performers

An open mic night at Ingoldisthorpe Sports and Social Club is proving a hit.

The next evening of entertainment will be on Wednesday, June 28 at 7.30pm followed by Wednesday, August 2.

The new committee took over the running of the club in November last year, hoping to refurbish and build the club into an all-inclusive vibrant community hub.

It currently has more than 50 Facebook members and people have joined at £5 per year to enjoy the variety of entertainment on offer.

The programme has included quiz nights, live music, killer pool tournaments, Easter egg hunts, bingo race nights and a fun family event for the Coronation including a scarecrow competition, barbecue, cocktails and music.

There are also regular live football and bowls matches.

A key part of revitalising the club has been the monthly open mic nights which started in March.

These have become extremely popular and are well attended.

Organised and compèred by Dersingham-based band, 2nd Sunset, acts who perform include musicians, singers, bands and comedians.

The open mics encourage emerging talent, and help those who have never performed in public.

A spokesperson said: “The committee is working so hard to bring it back to life and they are doing a fabulous job.

“The open mics have encouraged young talent, given confidence to those who have never before performed in public and breathed new life into the older participants who thought their playing days were long gone.”

Diane Forder, committee member, said: “The open mic nights have been really successful and the club is always full on the nights these are held.”
