King's Lynn organ recital at minster
An organ recital will be taking place in Lynn this month.
King's Lynn Festival Chorus will be performing Maurice Duruflé's Requiem Op.9 on Saturday, April 23 in Lynn Minster at 7pm.
Regarded as one of the finest organ recitalists of his day Duruflé scored this requiem in three versions of instrumentation.
For this concert, under the musical direction of Ben Horden, the chorus will perform the version scored for small orchestra and will be accompanied by the British Sinfonietta with soloists Sarah Anne Champion, mezzo- soprano and Jolyon Loy, baritone.
The evening's programme includes Duruflé's Four Motets on Gregorian Themes Op. 10 and also Poulenc's Concerto for organ.
Poulenc's work was first performed by none other than Duruflé and on this occasion the organist will be Jeremiah Stephenson.
This will be a concert of Wonderful music in the stunning setting of Lynn Minster with its impressive Snetzler organ and promises to be an enthralling experience.
