King's Lynn organisations collaborate on free event
A free event is taking place on Saturday, June 18, with two organisations collaborating on a guided walk and tour.
The King’s Lynn Town Guides and the Shakespeare's Guildhall Trust are in partnership to combine a visit to St George’s Guildhall, Britain’s largest medieval Guildhall and oldest working theatre, with a tour of the town from both banks of the River Great Ouse.
This is in conjunction with Celebrate the Fens day and participants will meet at 11am at Custom House on Purfleet Quay and then visit nearby St George’s Guildhall, before crossing the river on the ferry to experience a view of the medieval waterfront from a different perspective.
From here, the walk will continue upriver to the South Lynn crossing and head back to Lynn’s old town via Harding’s Pits, the River Nar and Hanseatic South Quay.
The volunteers would be very grateful of donations, which will go towards both the Town Guides and Shakespeare's Guildhall trust, to help them continue their work.
The walk will last approximately three hours at a leisurely pace.
Walking shoes or comfortable trainers are recommended. In the event of inclement weather, the walk may be shortened by taking the return ferry crossing.
This event is not suitable for wheelchair users as it will include crossing the river on a ferry and walking along rough ground on the river bank.
Participants need to pay for their own ferry crossing (£1.20) and places may be limited and can be reserved by emailing Ivor@kingslynntownguides.co.uk
