Review of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at Hunstanton’s Princess Theatre: Performance is sure to bring festive cheer with lots of audience participation

What is a better way of getting into the Christmas spirit than a good old pantomime? This year’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is sure to fill you with festive cheer.

With multiple sets, lots of laugh-out-loud moments, and plenty of dancing and singing, this show offers a brilliant couple of hours of entertainment for all ages.

This production brings the classic tale to the seaside theatre, where the wicked queen, played by Jessica Broadbent, is jealous of Snow White’s beauty and wants her killed.

On Saturday, I went along to the opening show with my mum – it's safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed it and we left feeling very festive.

Along the way, we met the wicked queen, who showcased her dark side especially when she poisoned Snow White with an apple to try and kill her.

Samuel Hague, as Muddles, Snow White’s best friend, got the crowd laughing out loud and joining in as he had several surprises for us.

These included getting squirted by water pistols, a man in the audience got a bucket of confetti thrown over him, and Hague invited four people up on stage before the finale to perform The Music Man with him.

Throughout the two hours of fun, Marvyn Francis as Dame Dotty kept the audience entertained with the well-known phrases “it's behind you” and “oh yes it is” – while he got the crowd to shout out for him when anyone went near the cake he made Snow White for her birthday.

The story follows the titular character, played by Laura Roberts, Muddles and Dame Dotty, with the wicked queen jealous of Snow White's beauty and ordering Muddles to take her into the woods and kill her but he cannot and the evil queen finds out she is still alive.

In the woods with seven dwarfs, Snow White is found by the queen dressed up as an old lady who tricks her into eating a poisonous apple which sends her into a death-like sleep - with a kiss from the prince is the only way to bring her back.

During the show, we enjoyed the many singing and dancing acts which featured the talented junior dance team from Dersingham’s Rollason Stage School.

One of my favourite parts was the 12 Days of Christmas with Dame Dotty, Muddles and Prince Henry of Heacham, played by Josh Rettie, as it really got the audience laughing.
