Music in Burnham Thorpe urging public support

Music in Thorpe, now renamed Music in the Burnhams, is urging the public to support future events or else they may not continue.

Co-ordinator Ian Bell said: "I’m sure you would agree that we have had some amazing, unforgettable concerts. But I’m afraid you will also have noticed that we have had very small audiences.

"In round terms it costs up to £5k per weekend of three concerts and although it was never planned that ticket sales would completely cover all the costs, we do need to increase the size of our audiences. In fact if we don’t manage to sell more tickets, regrettably we will not be able to continue."

The programme has been revised for the rest of the year and it is as follows: Saturday, August 27, Last Night of the Proms concert at Burnham Thorpe Church at 7.30pm.

Friday, September 9, Maggini String Quartet at Sutton Church, Burnham Market at 7.30pm.

Sunday, September 11, Aeolus Wind Quartet at Burnham Market Village Hall at 3pm.

Saturday, September 24, The Wandering Minstrels sing Gilbert and Sullivan in costume, at Burnham Market Village Hall at 7.30pm.

Sunday, September 25, an afternoon with Vivaldi including Vivaldi Guitar. Concerto at Burnham Thorpe Church at 3pm.

Mr Bell added it would be extremely helpful if people could book tickets well in advance – just go www.musicinthorpe.com or phone 07989 177079.

Music in the Burnhams also continues to search for sponsorship from both companies and individuals.
