Please Sir, may I have some more, ask Watlington Young Players
The Watlington Young Players will be performing Oliver!Jr by Lionel Bart, the Broadway Junior version licensed by Musical Theatre International this month.
Showing on show Saturday, July 16 at 7.30pm and Sunday, July 17 at 2.30pm at Watlington Village Hall, the junior version contains all the well known songs including Consider Yourself, As long as He Needs Me, I'd do anything, I'm Reviewing the Situation and Where is Love.
Singing has been coached by former Watlingon resident Sheena Ainsworth-Lilley, who has been travelling from Staffordshire once a month to attend the rehearsals.
Penny Cooke said: "The age range of the performers is from seven to 16 years and the show opens with a scene in a workhouse, where the children sing yearningly of Food Glorious Food, of which they get very little.
"We have decided to suggest the audience brings an item of non-perishable food or hygiene products to the show which will be donated to the Downham Market food bank.
"Members of the cast are also collecting for this worthy cause.
"There will be a raffle of which 50 per cent of takings will be given to the food bank.
"Tickets are available from ticketsource.co.uk/watlingtonplayers, £8 adults and £6 children."
