King’s Lynn Community Cinema Club launching regular social events at Ferry Lane Social Club
King’s Lynn Community Cinema Club is launching new regular social events for anyone interested in cinema.
Alongside the regular monthly screenings at St George’s Guildhall they are also intending to organise several ‘An Evening with….’ events each year to be held in the newly refurbished Nightingale Bar at Ferry Lane Social Club. Different local film experts have been invited to come along and present a talk about a film related topic, illustrated by numerous film clips in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. The bar will be open and audience participation is definitely encouraged.
Club chairman, Ian Barton explained: “We have always held talks about different aspects of cinema, but we are very keen to emphasise the social side of these.
“Anyone is welcome to come along and there is no need to book in advance – just turn up on the night and pay at the door.
“We are launching these events with ‘An Evening with Nigel Herwin’ who is always guaranteed to be an entertaining and enthusiastic speaker.”
Nigel will be starting with a presentation ‘Strictly Celluloid: Dance on Film’ which will celebrate the classic routines from the movies and explore how different dance styles – ballet, ballroom, tap and disco – result in different styles of filmmaking.
From the effortless grace of Astaire and Rogers to the razzle-dazzle choreography of Bob Fosse, he will ask what makes a great cinematic dance sequence?
Entrance is £5 cash for KLCCC members and £6 for non-members.
