Burnham Deepdale music festival features Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake and Laura Marling influenced rising folk star Ellie Gowers
Rising folk star Ellie Gowers features at the four-day Deepdale music festival, performing on September 23.
Ellie is a songwriter and guitarist from Warwickshire.
What grew from a childhood love of literature and traditional folk song is a carefully crafted and emotionally mature catalogue of original material, referencing artists such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, and Laura Marling.
When 2020 and Covid put plans on hold, Ellie started working as lead vocalist in the exciting Filkin’s Drift Ensemble project.
With success already from the single release Against the Tide and a TEDx Talk that followed, she entered 2021 with a brand new EP Parting Breath which pays homage to Robert Burns’ Auld Lang Syne and received rave reviews and extensive radio play. As live gigging returned, Ellie closed the year having played a national UK tour.
She started this year writing music for a BBC Radio 3 production and toured as Blair Dunlop’s special guest on his 20-date UK spring tour.
Her highly anticipated debut album Dwelling by the Weir was released in May. It explored the folklore, stories, and people that made her home county of Warwickshire what it is today.
Deepdale Camping & Rooms hosts their music festival across five stages which takes place during the last weekend of September, 22 to 25.
