Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival this weekend





Sixteen performing Shanty Groups are coming together this weekend for the Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival.

The Shanty Groups will sing their hearts out at five destinations in Brancaster Staithe and adjoining Burham Deepdale, with performances from 7pm to 10pm on Friday, noon until late on Saturday and noon until 6pm on Sunday.

Performances will take place at The Jolly Sailors, The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, Brancaster Staithe & Burnham Deepdale Village Hall and St Mary’s Church in Burnham Deepdale.

Among the merriment and singalongs will be collections for two local charities – RNLI Hunstanton and Brancaster Coastwatch.

The Jolly Sailors team has arranged a Charity Lottery with amazing prizes including dinner, bed and breakfast at one of Anglian Country Inns’ establishments plus lots of other fabulous prizes – tickets available at The Jolly Sailors and The White Horse at £1 each.

Organiser Simon Parkin said: “This is our second year, bigger and better and an event not to be missed. Tell any friends and family who like a bit of tradition and a shanty sing-a-long.”
