A concert by the Coro Stellante ladies choir, “Echoes of Earth, Sea and Sky”, will be given at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Swaffham on Sunday, May 8, at 6pm.

It will be the first time this outstanding East Anglian choir has performed at the beautiful parish church.

Following their sell-out concert of 20s music in Downham, Coro Stellante will this time sing a contrasting programme of music from around the world including classics by Schubert, Elgar and Vaughan Williams, contemporary American by Lauridsen and Gjeilo, traditional Mexican by Hatfield and a selection of well-known Broadway hits.

Coro Stellante was formed in 2010 to promote the vast and wonderful collection of music that exists for female voices. The ladies are all experienced singers, many of them members of well-known national choirs, and have been specially selected by the choir’s music-director to sing with Coro Stellante, the ‘Star-Studded Choir’, which meets just a few times a year. The choir members come from all over East Anglia, rehearsing in West Norfolk and performing in an ever-widening area.

In 2012, Coro Stellante was invited to perform in the International Choral Rassegna in Atri, Italy. In 2013 they gave a recital in Rochester Cathedral and in 2014 the ladies represented Great Britain in the International Costa Barcelona Choral Festival alongside choirs from Estonia, Russia, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Georgia and Turkey; Coro Stellante was presented with a Gold Diploma for its performance.

May 2015 saw the choir in the Lake Garda area of Italy with concerts in Desenzano and Toscolano-Maderno and last October they performed two exceptional concerts in north London.

Music Director Michael Kibblewhite is well known as one of the UK’s most inspirational choral directors and together with outstanding pianist John Byron and the captivating ladies voices, Coro Stellante is a choir not to be missed.

Recent reviews describe Coro Stellante’s singing as sublime, electrifying, tear-jerking and full of panache.
