Swaffham features in book on folk tales
A storyteller has published a book of folk tales for youngsters in the hope of teaching them more about Norfolk’s history.
Dave Tonge, who was born and bred in Norfolk and goes by the name of the Yarnsmith of Norwich, released his book Norfolk Folk Tales for Children in September, which is published by The History Press.
From tales of the poor pedlar of Swaffham to Pocahontas’ stay in Heacham, and the ‘heart’ of a witch who was executed on the Tuesday Market Place in Lynn and King John losing his treasure in The Wash, the book covers a wealth of local stories steeped in history.
Tonge, who travels all over the UK telling stories at museums, heritage sites, fairs, festivals and schools, published his first book Tudor Tales in 2015.
Norfolk Folk Tales for Children is available to purchase now, with a recommended retail price of £9.99.
