Claire Young said: " We are putting on a concert in memory of our musical director Cy Payne who set this band up 25 years ago for the school children of Downham to give them a way to play as a band.

"Then it moved away from the school and branched out to any amateur musicians wishing to play in a band.

"We would put on concerts and donate money to local charities over the years, as this is what Cy was about with his generous giving nature.

"He was such a well known figure within the music industry, writing many arrangements for the BBC and strictly come dancing.

"He was even the choice for Torvill and Dean for one of their tours.
