The King’s Lynn Young Players and The Springtime Singers putting on production of Cats Jr at The Guildhall





A production is being put on to celebrate the anniversary of two performing groups.

The Lynn Young Players and Springtime Singers are presenting a special show that celebrates the Players’ 80th anniversary and The Singers’ 20th.

The two-act production features a wealth of young talent from around the area.

The Players have also been awarded the Norfolk Community Foundation Grant for the second year running which helps them stage shows like this.

Sharon Fox, director of Lynn Young Players, said: “We have always championed the next generation of performers, and for almost 35 years we have run a weekly youth group which has seen many performers head to the West End and beyond.”

Wendy Fisher, chair of KLP, said: “It’s so important to encourage youngsters to get involved in theatre.

“It is great for social interaction, confidence and can help them greatly in adult life.

“We are delighted to join forces with The Springtime Singers led by Samantha Ashby and so excited to have received the NCF Grant again this year.”

Samantha Ashby added: “There is lots of crossover of membership between both groups and we are excited to be working together again.”

The Norfolk Community Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to building stronger communities and improving the lives of people in Norfolk.

The show will be performed at The Guildhall of St George in Lynn on June 22 at 2pm and 7pm and June 23 at 2pm.

Tickets are available now from the Alive Corn Exchange Box Office on 01553 764864 or kingslynncornexchange.co.uk starting at £11 for children and £13 for adults.

A family ticket for four is also available at £11 per person.

Act one is a montage of Springtime and Young Player's favourites. A real treat for all the family.

Act two is Cats Young Actors Edition - an amateur youth group production by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on ‘Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats’ by T.S. Elliot Orchestrations by David Cullen & Andrew Lloyd Webber.

It is an original production by Cameron Mackintosh Ltd. and The Really Useful Group Ltd ‘Prologue – Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats’ additional material written by Trevor Nunn and Richard Stilgoe, ‘Memory’ additional material written by Trevor Nunn.
