Pensthorpe Easter trail gives familes Not Your Nest experience in special holiday activities
Pensthorpe is giving families the chance to become the ultimate nature investigators this Easter, with its Not Your Nest experience.
From tomorrow, Saturday April 1-17, the latest trail takes visitors across the reserve, deciphering clues and matching up wildlife to their special homes, finding a giant golden egg and nests along the way.
The reserve is also collaborating with Orchard Toys for a second time, with the toy manufacturers from Wymondham designing an extra trail at Wild Rootz based on its Egg Surprise Hunt game.
Natalie Douglas, head of marketing at Pensthorpe, said: "Easter is a special time for lots of families and usually involves plenty of eggs of the chocolate variety, but at the same time of year, Norfolk’s wildlife is bringing new life into the world and raising them in their purpose-built nests.
"Last year’s Easter event at Pensthorpe was all about distinguishing a variety of eggs, so this year we’ve taken it one step further and designed a trail that celebrates where new life lives."
Visitors will be able to visit the reserve, where they decipher clues, fact find and match up pictures of wildlife to their special homes, and once completed, they’ll receive a pack of wild seeds to plant at home.
Guests can also pose for photo opportunities with the giant golden egg and nests they find along the way.
As new life springs up across the reserve, the trail educates families about the names of young species, what nests are made from and why mammals, birds and reptiles build nests to protect their young.
Chloe Chambers, marketing executive at Orchard Toys, said: "After great success collaborating with Pensthorpe in the summer, we are delighted to be working in partnership with them on an exciting Orchard Toys Easter trail throughout the WildRootz area.
"There will be daily prizes up for grabs, plus exclusive in-store promotions, ideal for sugar-free gifts this Easter."
To fuel guests throughout the day, Pensthorpe’s café is serving traditional hot food inspired by pub classics, as well as sandwiches, cakes and hot and cold beverages.
The reserve is also running a rainy day guarantee, where adults, children and seniors receive a free return ticket, if their first visit is disrupted by over an hour of continuous rain, to use within four weeks.
During the Easter holidays, tickets for adults are £14.95, and £13.95 for seniors (60+) and children three to 16 years old and under threes enter for free.
