Barton Bendish weekend fundraiser with St Andrew's Church and village hall exhibiting artwork, photography and crafts

Barton Bendish is getting creative this weekend in its latest community fundraising event.

St Andrew's Church and the much improved village hall will be transformed into galleries exhibiting artwork, photography and crafts.

It will showcase the work of around 50 local people and with everything on show up for sale it will, at the same time, raise money for the church and the hall.

The event will take place on Saturday between 10am and 5pm and on Sunday from 11am to 5pm.

There will be a raffle, home-made cakes and teas and light lunches will be available.

Admission is £1 with children going in free.

This is the 12th exhibition and it is staged by the Parochial Church Council through an organising committee.

One of the organisers, Liz Stephens, said they missed one year through the pandemic and that because of lockdown last year's event was hugely popular with exhibitors and buyers.

She said: “I think a lot of people had time on their hands to paint and carry out their craftwork, We don't expect as many exhibits this year but it still looking like a good turnout and we hope we will get lots of support.”

She said that as well as the artwork and photography, craft contributions would include jewellery, cards, Christmas decorations, stocking fillers, ceramics and quilting.

The last fundraiser in the tiny village was during the summer when it held an open gardens and classic car show – and raised an incredible £4,600 for the church and attracted hundreds of visitors.
