North Wootton Christmas Fair is back for eighth year with lights switch-on to kickstart its festivities
The countdown is on as North Wootton Village Hall is preparing for its annual Christmas fair.
Taking place this Saturday, November 30, this well-loved event is now in its eighth year and is renowned for getting the festive season started.
Shoppers can browse a large market featuring an array of stalls between 10am and 5pm selling Christmas decorations, gifts, and locally sourced and produced food and drink.
Freshly cut, locally grown Christmas trees will be on sale, and there will be free live entertainment from The Jingle Elves and local singer Claire Scollay.
Father Christmas’s reindeer will also be present and can be visited free of charge.
Antony Lamb, the village hall’s events organiser, said: “We are really pleased to be able to put on the Christmas fair again this year, having worked hard since January to make this a really special event full of festive cheer.
“And, of course, we will switch on the Christmas lights for the community to enjoy for the rest of the season too.”
The raffle has been well supported by businesses in the community with high-value prizes, and the village hall will be serving mulled wine, warm mince pies, and refreshments to enjoy while visitors soak up the Christmas atmosphere.
West Norfolk mayor Cllr Paul Bland will also be in attendance.
Mr Lamb added: “It’s a great way to start your Christmas shopping with local independents, plus live music and entertainment, free-to-visit reindeer, and seasonal food and drink.
“It's a lovely way to welcome in the festive season.”
As in previous years, the Christmas fair will culminate with the switching on of the village hall’s Christmas lights.
Parking is available at The Woottons Surgery, also on Priory Lane, and the village hall is served by the North Wootton 3 Go To Town bus.
All proceeds from the event will go to North Wootton Village Hall, a registered charity, and used towards the upkeep and ongoing refurbishment of the hall.
