West Norfolk Gilbert and Sullivan Society will show Patience next year
Rehearsals for West Norfolk Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s production of Patience are underway.
Patience was last performed by the Society in 1995. Some of the cast for that production, and the previous one in 1972, are taking part in this, as well as members new to the society.
Comedy, pathos and some wonderful music abound in this one of the less well-known of the operettas, set in the woodland surrounding a castle, as rival poets and a company of Dragoons vie for the affections of rapturous maidens.
For many years the society has offered an annual production, and will again be working with sponsors to raise funds for local and national charities.
Performances will be at the Arts Centre on Thursday to Saturday, January 31-February 2 next year.
The society welcomes Bill Vyse as its new director. He has been a member of the company for some years, and has also appeared in G&S productions at Outwell.
He has acted as Producer for Fakenham Little Theatre, and is a former member of the Pattesley Singers. He is planning to bring plenty of sparkle to this production.
John Smith continues as Musical Director. He was in the cast of two of the company’s productions, taking the part of the Lieutenant of the Tower in The Yeomen of the Guard and being in the orchestra for the following year’s production of The Mikado.
The society welcomes new members in the cast.
While there are no auditions for the chorus, auditions for principals are being held at Howard Junior School on Sunday, October 14.
