Westacre and coffee dates
The “magnetic, sparkling and lyrical” Aurea Quartet will perform an afternoon concert at Westacre Theatre on Sunday before they launch the very popular series of morning coffee concerts at King’s Lynn Festival on Monday.
The quartet, which is emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic young ensembles, will play works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn and then the audience can enjoy tea in the theatre’s lovely grounds.
At the first coffee concert in Lynn Town Hall on Monday the quartet will be joined by Festival artist-in-residence, cellist Marcin Zdunik.
They will perform Schubert’s final, and generally regarded his finest chamber work, the Quintet in C. Coffee is served from 10.30am and the concerts begin at 11am.
The concerts continue on Tuesday with Eunsley Park, a rising British/South Korean violinist and Zoe Mather (piano) who has performed extensively as a soloist and accompanist in the UK and Europe.
Wednesday’s concert will be given by Romanian pianist George Todica, who started winning concerts at the age of 13 and first played with an orchestra at the age of 14.
Marcin Zdunik will be back at the Town Hall on Thursday to team up with pianist Jams Coleman to perform works by Brahms, Debussy and Chopin.
The last of the morning series next Friday will feature the Consone Quartet, who will play Beethoven and Schubert quartets.
Short new works by young composers will be included in most of the coffee concerts.
