“Sardines on toast in bed? Oh you are naughty!”
Four couples. Three bedrooms. One sleepless night!
That sets the scene for the Westacre Theatre Company’s new production Bedroom Farce, by Alan Ayckbourn, and directed by Andy Naylor.
Masterful comic writer Alan Ayckbourn shines a bedside light on the trials and tribulations of modern married life. As three couples prepare for a night out they are each interrupted by the overbearing Trevor and Susannah and their ‘relationship problems’.
They parade their problems around the bedrooms of the three other couples, exposing the cracks in other people’s marriages as well as their own.
With friends like Trevor and Susannah no one gets much sleep.
This rollicking comedy of manners, both funny and sad, explores the different pressures of relationships at their different stages. Starring a full company of your favourite Westacre actors, this show proves you really can tell a lot about someone from their bedroom.
Director Andy Naylor says: “Three reasonably normal married couples endure a night of havoc wreaked on them by the outrageous Trevor and Susannah whose marital breakdown makes Burton and Taylor look like Darby and Joan.
“This delightfully funny take on suburban Britain in the bedroom creates a joyous evening of laughter – perfect for banishing winter blues.”
Performances are on Fridays February 27, March 6, 13 and 20, and Saturdays February 28, March 7, 14 and 21 with ticket prices at £16 (£12 for under 21s).
