Pensthorpe nature reserve is putting on several events throughout May and June for the whole family to get involved in




A 700-acre nature reserve in Norfolk has an array of workshops, family outings and exciting events lined up.

Pensthorpe is hosting a range of workshops for everyone to enjoy throughout May and June – which are all guaranteed to put a 'spring' in your step.

On Monday, May 6, everyone’s favourite Blue Heeler pup will be appearing during meet and greet sessions at intervals throughout the day, in her first ever appearance at Pensthorpe.

Along with seeing Bluey, the reserve will be open as usual, allowing you a full day out with Hootz House Indoor Play, Wild Rootz outdoor play zone, Flamingo Talks, walks and so much more.

Entry ticket sales for the day are already proving popular, with many time slots for Hootz House sold out, or close to being at full capacity.

If you’re planning on going along, it is recommend you book early to avoid disappointment.

Ticket prices are their standard general admissions for the day, with members being able to take advantage of entering the reserve for free.

If you are a member, you can also book your free general admission for the day online to ensure you don’t miss out.

Spring Bouquet workshop

Just added to the line-up of events and workshops at Pensthorpe is the opportunity to make your own beautiful spring bouquet.

Everything you need to make your own bouquet is provided and the workshop will be guided by gardening expert Lesley.

The workshop on Thursday, May 23 is 3 hours long, running from 10am – 1pm, and will take place in the cafe function room. Refreshments and a treat from the café are provided.

Priced at £55 per person, you will finish the workshop with your own bouquet, made to your own tastes.

May half term: Discover the power of pollination

Go and be a pollen explorer at Pensthorpe this May half term. Follow the ‘discovery trail’ on the reserve with a map and crack clues to learn more about how birds, bees and other insects help with the pollination process.

There will also be free crafts, pond-dipping, flamingo talks, bee and butterfly-themed treats in the cafe.

Running from Saturday, May 25 until Sunday, June 2, you can take part by booking your general admission on the website.

Members will be able to take part in the event for free, as part of their annual membership.

Butterfly and Dragonfly Walk

Join Pensthorpe on one of their favourite walks and discovery talks of the year - and find out more about butterflies and dragonflies.

There are two dates available to take part in this fun and educational walk. Join on either Wednesday, June 12, 10am-1pm or Wednesday, July 17, 10am-1pm.

These events cost £17.95 per person with a 20% discount for Pensthorpe members.

Father’s Day

Whether it be your dad, mum, sister, grandparent, partner, or best friend – you can bring a loved one for free on Sunday, June 16.

Lose yourselves on a walk around the park, and explore the gardens in full bloom.

To take advantage of this special offer, just purchase general admission tickets for Sunday, June 16 and the discount will be automatically applied.

Members can also take advantage of this offer, by coming along for free themselves, and then bringing someone else for free too.

Glow worm hunt

Glow worms are very secretive beetles, but for a few nights of the year the females glow to attract their mates.

Join Pensthorpe on a late-night expedition into the park to find these glow worms and discover a whole host of nocturnal wildlife on the way.

There are two dates, and both are proving to be very popular already.

It is worth booking in advance to ensure you don’t miss out – choose from either Friday, June 21 from 10pm – midnight, or Friday, July 5 from 10pm – midnight.

Tickets are available from £15.95 per person with a 20% discount for members.

Conservation on the farm

There’s a whole other side to Pensthorpe – and this is an exclusive chance to go behind the scenes and discover how they make their farming friendly for wildlife.

Those booking tickets for Wednesday, June 26 will be able to gain access to parts of the 700 acre reserve that are not normally available to the general public.

From 1pm to 3.30pm on the day, you can learn about grasslands, crops, pond restoration and hedgerow management, while looking out for some of the wildlife farm team.

Ticket prices start at £15.95 per person and members can enjoy a 20% discount. This event currently only has one scheduled date for 2024 – so book now to ensure you get this exclusive look behind the scenes at the farm at Pensthorpe.

Christmas wreath workshop

Pensthorpe is pleased to announce that Christmas wreath workshops will be back for 2024.

Join them to make your own beautiful wreath to adorn your door for the festive season.

There are currently two dates available on either Saturday, November 23 or Monday, December 2.

A hot drink and a treat from Pensthorpe’s Courtyard Cafe are included.

The workshop is 3 hous long, running from 10am-1pm, and will take place in the cafe function room.
