King’s Lynn Stars boss Alex Brady and riders Richie Worrall, Frederik Jaboksen and Josh Pickering's reactions to Premiership League Cup Sheffield final home defeat

King’s Lynn Stars know they have it all to do in Thursday's Premiership League Cup final second leg but will give it their best after a 51-39 defeat at home to Sheffield.

Team boss Alex Brady said after the first leg, when the Tigers pulled away following four 5-1 maximum wins in the last five heats: “We were beaten by a better team tonight over 15 heats.

"At 7.30pm everything was in place. Sometimes it goes well, other nights it doesn't. We couldn't buy a start unfortunately.

"I thought after Heat 4 or 5 we'd be into it more. Sheffield just poured it on a little bit too strong for us.

"When we had the interval at Heat 11 we spoke about the importance of making our starts. At that stage we were four down and felt we could come on stronger for the final third.

"The changes didn't quite work for us and I'm at a loss to explain why.

"It's bitterly disappointing. All we can do is go on Thursday and do our very best and try and claw those 12 points back."

Richie Worrall said: "The track was slicker and I was not happy with my performance, with some of the form I've been on lately.

"Sheffield is a track I like – I've been double figures or touching it every time – but they are a strong team.

"We're definitely going to be doing our best and that's all we can do. Their one-to-seven is strong.

"Every one of their team did a job, one or two of our lads had an off night. We've got to regroup and go again."

Minors & Brady Stars skipper Josh Pickering said: “Sometimes in speedway it just happens, you can get 15 points in one night, and then you come back...

"Like Richie, for example, he got a maximum last time he was here. He rocked up with the same set-up tonight and it didn't work. It's just speedway for you."

Lynn top scorer Frederik Jaboksen said: “Sheffield was my first race this year in the UK. It can only get better from my first meeting.

"For me personally, I've got a point to prove and so have the team. For sure, we'll have to fire on all cylinders."
