Memory Lane Schooldays: Hunstanton school on recruitment drive

Hunstanton’s Glebe House School was on a recruitment drive in February and March, 1985, using the school’s mini-bus to round up extra pupils.

The school was trying to attract youngsters from a wider area and was offering a pick-up service to those from outside Hunstanton.

In our picture right, pre-prep pupils at Glebe House get ready to board the bus along with teacher Mrs Liz Houghton. The service had been operating in the Dersingham area where nine children were picked up on school days.

Glebe’s new headmaster, Mr William Buck, said it was a service that could be extended as far as Lynn if there was sufficient demand.

Mr Buck and his wife Alison had taken over at the school at the start of 1985.
