Downham Market Academy parkrun sees dozens of participants take part as it celebrates its second anniversary
A parkrun event saw dozens flock to the starting line to celebrate its second anniversary over the weekend.
Downham Market Academy parkrun welcomed 23 newcomers among the 67 participants who ran, walked and jogged the course on Saturday.
Not only was this the organisation’s 95th event, but it was also its second anniversary making it a special day for many.
Event director Frances Rayner said: “It’s been amazing to see the event develop over time.
“Setting it up in Downham Market was about doing something for the community, I wanted to make it something that was accessible for everyone.”
Starting at 9am every Saturday, the five-kilometre course at Downham Market Academy has a mixture of soft and hard terrain which participants do four laps of.
“We have such a good volunteer team which I am eternally grateful for, we wouldn’t be able to open each week without them,” Frances added.
Treats and drinks were on offer as part of a monthly pop-up cafe, which this time raised £234 for Target Ovarian Cancer.
The organisation thanked Downham Market Academy for continuing to support the event and said it hopes to continue running it for as long as possible.
