Flooding possible on Saturday as alerts issued for parts of North and West Norfolk including Holkham, Hunstanton and King’s Lynn

Residents in coastal parts of North and West Norfolk have been warned that flooding is possible due to high tides tomorrow.

Flood alerts have been issued for Hunstanton, Heacham to north of Lynn, and West Lynn and The Wash frontage.

The Environment Agency has said that the weather conditions that have been forecast during spring tides mean that high tides are expected between 6.15am and 8.15am tomorrow morning.

Officials say that areas most at risk are Heacham, Snettisham, Ingoldisthorpe, Dersingham, Wolferton and around Hunstanton seafront – where flood gates will be closed by the local authority which will make access difficult.

One of the flood alerts also covers Lynn, West Lynn, Clenchwarton, Terrington St Clement, Walpole Cross Keys and Tilney All Saints.

And a fourth warning also states that some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths may occur due to high tides between 6.30am and 8.30am on the North Norfolk coast from Old Hunstanton to Cley.

“We expect to see water on roads and paths to beaches and on the quays in Brancaster, Burnham Overy, Holkham, Wells and Blakeney,” a spokesperson said.

“Take care on beaches, coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself or others in danger.

“Our workforce are out checking flood defences.”
