Officers arrested five men and two women in connection with the incident.

They were taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, and have since been released on bail until July 2.

It is believed the piglets may have been left close to Downham’s town hall as part of an animal rights protest.

The dead bodies were removed and disposed of.
