Her sister Bethany is second at same venue after leading for first couple of laps

King’s Lynn Cycling Club’s Florence Barnett is the 2018 Eastern Region Cyclocross Champion for U14 girls, with a massive margin of more than a minute ahead of the second place rider at Stanborough park Welwyn Garden City.

Her sister, Bethany, at the same venue, rode a brilliant race with a clear gap on rivals for the first couple of laps. Her energy faded on the last lap, though.

She was gradually reeled back and was beaten to the line, finishing second in the Eastern Region Championship race by just two seconds over a 30-minute race time.

Three KLCC juniors competed in the second round of the Muddy Monsters racing league. The cold and wet didn’t dampen their spirits.

This round saw the riders face a much longer course with hurdles, where the riders had to dismount, jump the obstacle and remount. There were long straights and a series of tight turns.

All of the team continued their success from the previous round. Antoni Malyszka and Tye Rugg won all their races, with Ben Shepherd coming a very close second in the first two races and third in the final race.
