GCSE Results 2019: Springwood High School
Springwood High School are celebrating their best ever results since the new GCSE framework was introduced in 2017.
There was a six per cent increase in students gaining a pass in both English and Maths, rising to 66 per cent overall.
Executive headteacher Andy Johnson said: "This year our students have been exceptional. I am so pleased that they have gained such great grades."
Phoebe Claxton secured a notable set of grades with seven grade 9s, three grades 8s and one grade 7.
Another standout performer was Ezra Nwobodo who achieved four grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s.
He will go on to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at Springwood's Sixth Form.
"Some of my grades were better than I was expecting and some were not, but overall I am very pleased," Ezra said.
Joshua Ampomah said he was still undecided on what he will be doing for A-Levels having achieved four grade 9s, six grade 8s and one grade 7.
Mia Marson told the Lynn News she will be taking the Hair and Beauty course at sixth form after achieving the grades she wanted including a Merit for Hairdressing.
She said: "I have wanted to do hairdressing for a while now. I was a nervous wreck but it now feels like a massive weight of my shoulders.
"It's a good feeling and I can now relax. I am proud of myself."
Roger Livesey, chairman of governors, said: "This is a fantastic record year for Springwood High School. It is great to see the hard work of our students and staff pay off with such fantastic results."
Having achieved grades that were "much better than he was expecting", Dawid Peczkowski will study History, Politics and Photography at a sixth form in Cambridge.
"I was so scared beforehand but I am feeling content and ready to move on to further education with new opportunities," David said.
Lillie-Anna Kirkpatrick said she was pleased with her results.
She said: "Science was not as good as I thought but I am so surprised about Music as I thought I would get something bad so that's brilliant. I got such a high mark in Drama so I will probably take that for sixth form.
"I was shaking in the line but now I have got my grades I am so happy and relieved."
Lillie-Anna's friend Anna Howlett will study the three sciences at Springwood Sixth Form after achieving the grades she was expecting.
Chloe Dalby and Marni Bullock will both go on to study Health and Social Care, Criminology and Business at Springwood Sixth Form.
Speaking on how she felt when she woke up on results day, Marni said: "I did not really think about in the days leading up to it but then it suddenly hit me."
Dylan Burge said he was pleasantly surprised with his grade 8 for Religious Education after he was expecting to get a U! Dylan will go on to study Physics, Maths and Computer Science for A-Level.
And Aidan Hudson, who will go on to study Computer Science, Media Studies and Geography for A-Level said: "My grades were higher than I was expecting for sure. I was not that nervous the day before but when I got in, I suddenly realised it was for real!"
Aidan said he achieved grade 5s for English, Geography and Computer Science, and grade 4s for Drama, English and Maths.
