Mem’s Kitchen is a Mediterranean treat for King’s Lynn diners
Tucked away in one of the smaller premises in Lynn, blink and you could miss Mem’s Kitchen - but you’d be missing out too.
The small but bustling Mediterranean restaurant has been operating from its High Street premises opposite Marks & Spencer since October 2019 after moving from other premises in the town where it has operated for five years.
Nestled between H. Samuel jewellers and the Nip & Growler pub, Mem’s offers something slightly different for Lynn diners, with a great range of Med-inspired food.
My son and I fancied a bite out on Saturday evening and managed to snag the last table, arriving at 6pm.
On arrival, the place was already full with diners of all ages and we were quickly shown to our seat by one of several polite and friendly serving staff.
The place is tastefully decorated and Mediterranean music also gives it that real sunshine feeling.
I chose a sparkling water and Alfie had a Coke while we mulled over the impressive menu.
There was a great choice of more than 20 starters, and plenty of mains, including vegetarian dishes, burgers, seafood and pasta.
I started with the lentil soup, served with bread (£5.45) while Alf chose the warm marinated fresh calamari salad, served with chillis and rocket salad (£6.95). My soup was gorgeous and my boy was also impressed with his dish, having never before tried squid.
For mains, we both fancied a burger. I went for for falafel with humus, tzatziki, red onions and chilli sauce. Alfie had halloumi, with marinated Mediterranean vegetables, sun-dried tomatoes and pesto. Both were £12.95 and served with salad and chips.
We were both very pleased with our choices and later enthused about the flavours to the rest of our envious family who had been too busy to join us.
We did look at the dessert menu and there was a decent choice, but we just didn’t have room to do it justice.
Judging by the fact Mem’s was full at 6pm, it is already tremendously popular and it deserves to be. It’s a real little gem and it will certainly get my custom again.
