Pupils at a West Norfolk village school have enjoyed an afternoon out of the classroom to take part in their own Race for Life event.
Hundreds of pounds were raised when youngsters from the Southery Academy took part in the event on the village’s playing field last Friday.
School manager Lisa Good said a total of £377 had been raised on the day, with around £400 in sponsorship money collected since then.
She said all school year groups, as well as staff, were sponsored to take part with children running as far as possible within 20 minutes, rather than the five kilometre distance usually covered by those events.
And, with the fundraiser now in its fourth year, it is now an established feature of both the school’s and village’s calendar.
Mrs Good said: “Parents and grandparents come along to join in or watch.”
