Tributes paid to ‘thoughtful’ QEH fundraiser from Fairstead
Tributes have been paid to a man from Fairstead who has died just months after raising money for Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Michael Reed, who raised more than £1,070 to buy pillows and nebulisers for the hospital, has been described as a “kind and thoughtful person”.
On Facebook, Del Foreman said: “A great bloke, always joking, even when he was really feeling bad. My commiserations to his family, they will be devastated, as am I.”
“I gained the impression that he was a kind and thoughtful person always thought of others, despite his ill health,” Steve Baxter said.
Hayley Bramham said: “So sad to hear that. Mick was liked by everyone he met, great guy.”
Mr Reed had decided to launch a fundraising appeal for the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) and Terrington short stay wards at the QEH after he stayed in the wards over a few days in February.
Speaking to the Lynn News in March, Mr Reed said: “During my stay in hospital I was saddened by the lack of pillows which were like gold dust, as explained by a member of staff.
“The more money we can raise for this cause for patients and staff members the better, as it will ease pressure.
“These items will bring comfort to those on the wards.”
Previously, Mr Reed had gathered £1,600 for CMA Cardiomyopathy Association – a cause which affected him as he had an enlarged heart.
