Stanhoe Village Screen has The Phantom of the Open with Mark Rylance and Sally Hawkins and Baz Luhrmann's Elvis films in autumn
Stanhoe Village Screen has two films coming up for the autumn season.
On Monday, October 17 at 7.30pm is ‘The Phantom of the Open’ (12; comedy/drama/sport).
The film tells the remarkable true story of Maurice Flitcroft, a crane operator and optimistic dreamer from Barrow-in-Furness who managed to gain entry to the 1976 British Open qualifying, despite never having played a round of golf before.
Maurice pulls off a series of stunning, hilarious and heart-warming attempts to compete at the highest level of professional golf, drawing the ire of the golfing elite but becoming a British folk hero in the process. Starring Mark Rylance and Sally Hawkins.
